19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

Victory also means Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He defended 4 early-game chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after a lengthy match.
